Provisional political agreement on AI ACT
On April 27th, 2023, a provisional political agreement was reached on the world’s first regulation on Artificial Intelligence. Among the key points are:
- Stricter obligations for basic models, which include ChatGpt;
- Design of generative AI systems in compliance with EU law and fundamental rights, including freedom of expression;
- Understanding of high-risk AI systems that can cause harm to health, safety, or fundamental rights, and recommendation systems of large online platforms, as defined by the Digital Services Act – Regulation (EU) 2022/2065;
Increased measures to protect sensitive data, limiting the actions of high-risk system providers in processing collected information to avoid prejudice in AI operations.
The text of the AI Act may still be subject to some technical adjustments, but it is reasonable to expect that the plenary vote will take place in mid-June.
Chat GPT available in Italy again
